Christchurch’s Original Foods Baking Co. (OFBC) has been named as a finalist last night (31.8.17) in the New Zealand Food Awards (NZFA), in the James & Wells IP Innovation Category. The wholesale bakery produces delicious cakes, slices, bites and donuts which are sold in supermarkets, cafes, catering companies, restaurants and featured on airline menus throughout the country and the South Pacific.
New Zealand’s, Massey University owns and organises the NZFA, recognising the creativity, innovation and excellence of New Zealand’s largest export sector since 1987. Each year the awards celebrate new initiatives in food and beverage production and manufacturing, identifying company leaders who inspire others to meet standards of excellence, but also the creative work of product innovators in packaging design, nutrition, enterprise, food safety and quality.
“Innovation is something we pride ourselves on,” said OFBC founder Jane Mayell.
“The constant quest to invent new recipes and products, to keep our brand fresh and engaging, to improve our work practices and workplace and to better serve our suppliers, distributors, customers and staff is what has kept us in business for the past 26 years.
“Just as importantly, it makes it fun to come to work every day,” said Mayell.
The OFBC team will gather with the over 60 other NZFA Finalists at a Gala dinner on October 12 to learn who takes out the top awards in each category.
