Through Google Assistant, customers across the UK can use voice command to reserve approximately 20,000 Argos products. Argos’s new Voice Shop allows customers to make orders for pick-up from over 850 Argos stores. The orders can be picked up on the same day from the closest store to customers using the voice command, “OK Google, Ask Argos to find my nearest store”.
Argos’s Voice Shop service comes at a strategically good time as the use of in-home smart speakers are on the rise in the UK with one in ten households owning a digital home assistant. Predictions indicate that by 2022, voice shopping will be worth £3.5 billion in the UK.
“Voice technology has the potential to revolutionise how we shop in the future. Digital home assistants have soared in popularity over the past year, and people are increasingly looking to their smart devices to help with the smooth running of their lives,” said John Rogers, Argos CEO.
