After 49 years, UOL, New Zealand's exclusive Tupperware importers, announced they are closing business operations on October 30th. Online sales will continue up to this date if stock has not sold out before.
The company cited Covid-19 as a significant factor that influenced business operations. Increased costs and other supply challenges also contributed to the decision. The in-person party model had to stop, and a reluctance for their return has meant sales did not recover.
"On behalf of all of the staff (past and present) who have worked behind the scenes at Tupperware New Zealand, we thank you for your support over almost 50 years and wish everyone all the best," said UOL in an email to customers.
Tupperware sales will continue in other markets where it is sold through retail stores.
