Woolworths New Zealand has announced that Woolworths Ōtaki will be converted to a FreshChoice store.
Woolworths has focused on larger stores and a broader customer segment, while the FreshChoice franchise model is the best fit for stores tailored for local customers.
In line with this, Woolworths Ōtaki will become FreshChoice Ōtaki. This news followed a review of how the store can best meet the needs of locals.
A Woolworths New Zealand spokesperson said they signed an agreement with new owners for the store and consulted with team members on the proposal, which was confirmed last week. The new owners will be hiring for several roles at FreshChoice Ōtaki which team members can apply for.
All current vacancies at Woolworths Levin, Waikanae and Paraparaumu have also been held for Ōtaki team members should they consider that option.
The new owner-operators of FreshChoice Ōtaki, Brad and Rochelle Meikle, will be moving to Ōtaki to take up this opportunity and were excited to bring a fresh new shopping experience to the community.
“We’re really looking forward to settling into the area and getting to know all the locals. We’ll be giving the store a refresh, and encourage everyone to come along and check it out.”
Woolworths Ōtaki will close on Sunday, the 23rd of March 2025 for a refresh. FreshChoice Ōtaki will continue to share updates with the local community and is expected to officially open its doors as FreshChoice on Tuesday, the 1st of April 2025.
