Woolworths is getting some Tik Tok attention for its reusable bag share and pick-a-box station at the Bondi Metro store. Customers were particularly impressed by the cardboard boxes available to take home groceries in - an older concept that is being revitalised with the need to be more sustainable. PAK’nSAVE and independent fruit and vege stores have been making the most of cardboard boxes for years. A number of supermarkets overseas removed the use of the boxes during Covid to prevent cross-contamination.
The Tik Tok user shared clips of the Bondi store, and said, “Well done Woolies.” It has had over 30,000 views.
A spokesperson from Woolworths said the bag share initiative was community-led for the high number of tourists that visit the location. The availability of cardboard boxes has been so popular the company is considering utilising it at other locations.
@machiandme Well done @Woolies official no more getting into trouble for taking bags!!! #lifehack #bondi #woolies #recycle #reuse #share #aussiemade
