Coca-Cola Oceania has launched L&P's limited-edition can just in time for summer.
Now in its eighth year, this year's L&P summer edition will feature English and te reo Māori together on the same can for the first time.
Developed in partnership with Ira, a Māori-owned and operated creative agency, the cans feature words like "mīharo", meaning "awesome", and "he reka", meaning "delicious".
Julie O'Toole, Country Lead for Coca-Cola Oceania, said the new edition of L&P's summer can be about celebrating the spirit of summer uniquely Kiwi.
"The blending of English and te reo Māori phrases on the can recognises the vibrant cultural diversity of Aotearoa," said O'Toole.
"For many Kiwis, L&P is the taste of summer, and we're excited for them to reach for refreshing can and build even further understanding and celebration of our indigenous language."
O'Toole continued that Coca-Cola Oceania deeply respects the taonga that is te reo Māori. The company has worked closely with Tikanga-led agencies, drawing on the wisdom of cultural experts, and received guidance from the Māori Language Commission to bring this project to life.
"We hope L&P fans love it as much as we do."
L&P will host road trip activations throughout Aotearoa, Kicking off in Paeroa and Mount Maunganui to support the launch on 20 October 2023.
Visit L&P's website here or follow L&P on its official social channels, either on Instagram or Facebook.
This limited-edition summer can is available to retailers and stockists from early October, just in time for the sunny season in Aotearoa.
