LION New Zealand Announces Sales Leadership Change

LION has announced that Jono Willis will become National Sales Director – New Zealand from January 2027.

Willis brings broad commercial and leadership experience to the National Sales Director role, with a diverse career across LION’s legal, general management, and sales functions. He joined LION in 2012 as Legal Counsel in New Zealand before moving to Australia, where he handled a range of commercial legal matters across the business.

He subsequently returned to New Zealand in 2018 and became General Counsel for LION New Zealand and Little World Beverages. He later combined his legal leadership responsibilities with general management of LION’s Coffee business before moving into Sales as National Accounts Director and, most recently, Field Sales Director.

“Jono has built a genuinely unique career at LION. His breadth of experience has given him a strong understanding of our business," said LION’s Chief Operating Officer and NZ Country Director Craig Baldie.

"We’re excited to have him step into the National Sales Director role and continue to drive mutual success for LION and our customers."

Willis will succeed Warwick Hooper, who will leave the business following a 16-year career with LION.

Hooper joined Lion Dairy & Drinks in 2010 and held several senior sales leadership roles across the business, including Field Sales Manager and National Accounts Director, before being appointed National Sales Director – New Zealand in 2022.

Baldie thanked Hooper for his commitment to LION, its people and customers over his 16 years with the company.

“Warwick is an exceptional leader and has had an incredible impact on LION. He brought enormous energy and commitment to our industry, built strong relationships with our customers, and developed and backed great people to build an incredible team," said Baldie.

“While we’re sad to see him go, he leaves with our sincere thanks and very best wishes for his next challenge.”

Hooper was recognised this year for his exceptional and enduring contribution to the business when he was named a LION Legend, the company’s pinnacle people award. He will continue with LION into early 2027 to support the leadership transition.
