UK | Tesco has announced plans to launch on Uber Eats and Deliveroo, extending rapid grocery delivery, Clubcard prices, and Clubcard points to customers across the UK.
Through its rapid delivery service, Whoosh, Tesco already offers store-to-door grocery delivery from as little as 20 minutes from around 1,800 stores, reaching more than 70 percent of the UK population.
Since launching in 2021, the service has grown rapidly, with sales increasing by 51 percent last year and around 1.5 million customers now using Whoosh.
As customer demand for speed and convenience continues to grow, Whoosh has evolved to offer greater flexibility. Customers can now book same-day delivery windows that fit their schedules, shop without a minimum spend, complete larger basket shops and access an expanded range through more than 250 larger Tesco stores.
Whoosh complements Tesco’s core grocery home shopping service, which reaches more than 99 percent of the UK population and delivers over 1.2 million orders each week.
The new partnerships with Uber Eats, launching in August, and Deliveroo, which will roll out later this year, build on the success of Whoosh and will give even more shoppers access to thousands of Tesco grocery, fresh food, household and everyday essential products.
From launch, customers will be able to access hundreds of Clubcard Prices and collect Clubcard points when shopping at Tesco through Uber Eats and Deliveroo, extending the benefits of Clubcard to millions more customers.
Ashwin Prasad, Tesco UK CEO, said that Whoosh has transformed the way millions of customers shop with Tesco, offering speed, convenience and great value through the power of Clubcard. Launching with Uber Eats and Deliveroo will enable the retailer to bring those benefits to even more customers.
"Our online business continues to go from strength to strength, and these partnerships represent another important step in expanding our reach. By combining Tesco's market-leading range, quality and value with the scale of Uber Eats and Deliveroo, we're making it even easier for more customers to shop with Tesco in the way that suits them best."
