Supporting Japan’s Growing Food Export Market

JAPAN | More than 700 Japanese F&B exhibitors and 25,000 global visitors went to Tokyo Big Sight to attend “Japan’s Food” Export Fair, held in June 2026.

The event was dedicated exclusively to Japanese companies and gave international buyers direct access to a concentrated showcase of export-ready F&B products.

It was hosted by RX Japan and supported by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and co-organised with the Japan External Trade Organisation.

There was a clear focus on business matching at this year’s event. Japan’s food exports surpassed JPY1.7 trillion in 2025, marking 13 consecutive years of growth.

The Export Fair hoped to build on the momentum of rising interest in Japanese cuisine and the growing demand for high-quality, health-focused products.

The fair was designed for international buyers with defined sourcing goals, with direct access to authentic Japanese F&B producers, a focused environment for business-driven conversations, and support for faster paths to partnership through accelerated decision-making.

This year's Export Fair highlighted a strong mix of products that reflected both tradition and global demand, including fresh and processed foods, snacks, beverages and speciality ingredients. It enabled buyers to efficiently compare options and identify the best fit for their markets.

Products on show at the event included Hadate Umi by Senri Corporation, a premium sea urchin product from Japan, positioned in the high-end seafood market, and Matcha Mochi Stand Pack by Seiki Co Ltd, made with Kyoto Uji matcha, individually wrapped, and retail-ready for international markets.

Shimomura Wagyu Beef and Matsui Pure Malt Whiskey were also on display at the fair.

Visitors could plan their visit before arriving at the showcase and make the most of their time there. A VIP registration gave stronger opportunities to higher-intent buyers and decision-makers.
