BioPak cuts price of compostable straws

Australia’s leading eco-friendly packaging company BioPak has cut prices for their biodegradable Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified paper straws. In an attempt to encourage the eradication of plastic straws, BioPak is targeting food and drink outlets that have not made the switch to a more sustainable option. An estimated 10 million straws are used in Australia, daily. Soft plastics can often take up to 200 years to break down and are having extremely detrimental effects on the global environment and wildlife.

The new pricing will see Regular (6mm) BioStraws drop 38% and the Jumbo (100mm) BioStraws by 51%. Although paper straws are a step in the right direction, BioPak has the only FSC certified straws in Australia and New Zealand. The FSC certification guarantees that the forest is being managed in a way that preserves the natural ecosystem and benefits the lives of local people and workers. Furthermore, they are carbon neutral, recyclable, and compostable.
