BRITAIN’S OLDEST SUPERMARKET WORKER HAS NO PLANS TO RETIRE

Tom Brogan

Despite being almost 92 years old, Asda’s trolley-pusher Tom Brogan has no intention to retire. The great-grandad is Britain’s oldest supermarket worker and still enjoys helping shoppers three mornings a week.

Brogan started working in 1939 right after leaving school and retired as a grocer 28 years ago, aged 63, only to go back to work 14 months later as Asda’s car park attendant.

“I would seize up if I retired,” he told UK newspapers. “I think I’ll know when the time is right but it’s definitely not now. My health has been OK up until this week; I think it’s the first time I’ve taken sick leave in 20 years.”

Money, he added, has nothing to do with his choice. What he really likes about his job is the chance to stay fit and have a little company during the day.
