BRITONS STEALING BASKETS TO DODGE 5P CHARGE

A number of Tesco supermarkets in the UK said they were forced to attach security tags to their shopping baskets, after several customers had been walking off with them to avoid paying the 5p plastic bag charge. Since the levy was introduced in October 2014, stores revealed shoppers had been stealing 20 baskets a week.
Apart from Aldi, which has put security tags on all of its baskets, no other retail chain has taken similar measures.
