CANADA TO BAN ALL SINGLE-USE PLASTIC BY 2021

Canada’s prime minister, Justin Trudeau, has announced that the country plans to ban all single-use plastic by 2021 in a bid to reduce ocean waste.  Included in the ban will be plastic bags, straws, cutlery, plates and stir sticks. As part of the commitment, the Canadian government has also announced that it will introduce standards and targets for manufacturers that produce plastic packaging.

Trudeau commented that Canadians owe it to their children to help clean up the environment for future generations.

Canada currently only recycles 10 percent of the plastic used in the country.
