CHAMPAGNE TURNOVER REACHES RECORD HIGH

A recent report from Comité Champagne has revealed that total Champagne turnover for 2018 reached just under USD $5.6 billion. Exports of the popular beverage are up 1.8 percent, with the US consuming 23.7 million bottles, Japan drinking 13.6 million and China, Hong Kong and Taiwan collectively exporting 4.7 million bottles.

South Africa saw the biggest increase with growth of 38.4 percent. While Canada, Mexico and Australia have also seen a noticeable increase in recent years. Surprisingly France and the UK saw a decrease in sales, with volumes down 4 percent.
