COLES INCREASES MILK PRICES

Coles supermarket in Australia has upped its milk prices in support of local farmers. Its 2L and 3L milks will both be increased by 10 cents per litre. The announcement will see Coles 2L milk increase to $2.20 and its 3L milk increase to $3.30.

“Coles sources 100 per cent of our Coles Brand fresh milk from Australian farmers, many of whom are struggling as the impact of drought compounds ongoing challenges in the dairy industry,” said Steven Cain, Coles Group chief executive officer.

“Coles supports proposals to make Australia’s dairy industry more sustainable, and we are continuing to explore long-term solutions with government and industry stakeholders.”

In support of farmers, Coles has already committed $16 million to various affected organisations and charities.
