Changing Christmas Dinner’s Centrepiece

Sirloin

UK | In light of evolving Christmas dinner preferences, recent research has revealed that 67 percent of UK adults either do not consume turkey or consider it unimportant for their Christmas meal. This shift towards alternative centrepieces is evident in the surge of searches for 'beef wellington', which rose by an impressive +1,235 percent last Christmas for UK supermarket Asda.

However, the enduring appetite for the traditional turkey centrepiece remains robust, with nearly two million searches for the product on asda.com in the lead-up to Christmas last year. Searches for 'turkey crown' saw a remarkable increase of +3,500 percent during the same period.

To stay attuned to consumer needs, Asda is supplying a diverse offering of choices for Christmas dinner in 2023, combining both innovative alternatives and traditional favourites, including Sundried Tomato Stuffed Monkfish wrapped in Parma Ham, Gammon Joint with Brown Butter & Spiced Dark Rum, Porchetta, Crackling Pork Belly Roast with a Caramelised Leek & Apple Stuffing, and Ruby Port Drenched Sirloin.

Despite the drive for alternative options, catering to consumers preferring traditional options, Asda will supply two turkey options for customers, including Heritage Breed Slate Whole Turkey and Corn Fed Norfolk Bronze Turkey Crown.
