With plastic contamination being one of the most significant environmental concerns of consumers and manufacturers alike, with studies revealing more than 368 million tonnes of plastic produced through packaging each year, demand for sustainable packaging has become not only a trend for conscious consumption but a necessity for environmentalism.
In response, the Spanish innovation company Hinojosa Packaging Group has launched the Foodservice line at an industrial level. The Foodservice line is a pioneering primary packaging range for prepared foods and beverages that is 100 percent recyclable and environmentally neutral at the end of its life cycle.
Alongside other products by the group, such as Halopack and 360GP, Hinojosa aims to help companies promote more sustainable consumption patterns in the food industry and facilitate the strategic integration of sustainability as leverage towards greater competitiveness.
The use of plastics in packaging prepared foods increased by more than 33 percent in 2021. This made the food service one of the sectors with the highest demand for plastic for packaging. For this reason, the company opened its first plant wholly dedicated to manufacturing paper-based primary packaging for the foodservice sector, producing and distributing prepared or ready-to-process food and beverages to food industries, vending, supermarkets, and the HORECA channel (hotels, restaurants and catering).
The company's new line of products offers various solutions in which printing techniques suitable for contact with food are used. The main distinguishing feature of this packaging is that it is made from pieces of 100 percent recyclable paper and is certified compostable.
The new models are classified into three ranges. Included in the range is Beverage, designed for hot and cold beverages. Secondly is Dairy, crafted for products such as yoghurts and ice cream. And finally, FoodContainer is designed for fourth and fifth-grade prepared foods. FoodContainers qualities make the product an excellent choice for restaurant and quick-service chains (QSR) delivery services.
