LOW-COST LUXURY FOR CHRISTMAS

Christmas is just around the corner, and the price war is on again for UK supermarkets.

Discount chain Aldi is challenging posh stores with a brand-new offering of low-cost luxury festive baskets. Aldi’s Exquisite hamper retails at £98.37 and contains a bottle of Champagne and truffles, while a similar option at top-notch store Fortnum and Mason costs £225.
Meanwhile, Tesco is offering Louis Delaunay Champagne at a reduced price of £9 across its whole network of 800 stores.

“We know that there can be a lot of pressure on people’s purse strings. Offering a high-quality, award-winning champagne at such a good value will hopefully help shoppers spread the cost of Christmas and get one of the most popular purchases out of the way,” said Rob Dixon, Tesco champagne buyer.
