Czech Republic | Tesco prioritises the opening dynamic, innovative new stores and modernising existing stores to enhance consumers shopping experiences and improve operational efficiency.

Stores in Uherské Brod and Uherské Hradiště in the Czech Republic have undergone renovations to create a more pleasant and modern environment while incorporating energy-saving measures for environmental friendliness.

Katarína Navrátilová, CEO of Tesco for the Czech Republic, said there was a focus on creating environmentally friendly stores that reflected current trends. Modernisation efforts included redesigning the stores and external facades, replacing floor coverings, enhancing the checkout zone with popular self-service checkouts, and renovating the fruit and vegetable department and the bakery.

In line with Tesco's commitment to sustainability, the stores have adopted more environmentally friendly CO2 for cooling food, and refrigerators now feature doors to reduce electricity consumption and cooling gas usage. The renovated stores offer various food and non-food products, including seasonal items, fashion brands like F&F at competitive prices, and services from Tesco Mobile, a virtual operator.

Tesco continues its commitment to reducing food waste by donating unsold surplus food to local charities daily. Last year, the company contributed significantly to reducing food waste by sending 3.78 million food portions to food banks. The modernised stores enhance customers' shopping experience and align with Tesco's sustainability goals and community support initiatives.
