NZ WORKERS BLAMED FOR INCIDENT IN AUSTRALIA

An incident has been reported at McCain’s Ballarat factory, where according to the Australian Manufacturing Workers’ Union (AMWU) an employee was burned by hot oil because the replacement worker from New Zealand had failed to clean a fryer.
“The people who were running it while our stoppage was taking place clearly weren’t able to run the place. They were able to produce very, very little,” said Angela McCarthy, AMWU organiser. Karl Thin, Ballarat plant manager, categorically disproved her words, pointing out that all replacement staff were fully qualified, being employed at McCain’s plants in NZ. Also, he emphasised that it's not unusual for McCain's employees to travel between plants.
