THE DUOPOLY IS OVER

Breaking a long-held duopoly, German discounter Aldi is taking market share from Woolworths and Aldi in Australia.
Another well-known discount chain, Lidl, has decided to ditch its Australian expansion plan because the market seemed to be too small. Instead, the company chose to focus on the US. With Asian-based operators being growingly interested in the area, an even fiercer price competition might arise.
