Swedish photographer Bjorn Persson has captured the rare and fascinating moment when an old world clashes with the new.
While in Namibia to shoot a documentary on the Himba tribe, Persson spotted a tribeswoman strolling along the aisles of a local supermarket. Although it wasn’t at all unusual for the villagers—women from the tribe are regulars around the area—the surreal encounter left the photographer ‘fascinated, confused, happy and sad all at the same time’.
“For me, [these photos] are provocative and raise many questions,” he said.
