The Woolworths group has been named Australia’s top company in the Thomson Reuters’ 2018 Diversity and Inclusion Index. Not only was Woolworths named number one in Australia but 14th in the World.
The Diversity and Inclusion index rates the top 100 publicly traded companies over a range of four key categories – Diversity, Inclusion, People Development and New Controversies.
"We are proud to be ranked in the global top 20 of the Thomson Reuters Diversity and Inclusion Index,” said Caryn Katsikogianis, Woolworths Group Chief People Officer. “It is welcome recognition of our efforts and progress in creating an inclusive culture across all of our businesses. As a group, we embrace the value diversity brings to our organisation and seek to provide an inclusive work environment that gives all our team members a sense of purpose and belonging. We want our customers to experience a welcoming and genuine team when they shop with us, and our diverse team is key to delivering this.”
The Woolworths Group is one of Australia’s largest companies employing over 200,000 team members across Australia and New Zealand. Statistics show that the company employs 54 percent women compared to 46 percent men and that 32 percent of women are in senior management positions. Woolworths also employs just under 2000 Indigenous Australians and has recruited 45 refugees.
Other notable inclusions were; Nestle SA who came in 15th, and Colgate-Palmolive who came in 17th.
