ADULTERED MEATS

Following an investigation by the BBC that found that more than a fifth of the UK meat was found to be contaminated with traces of DNA from other species. The investigation which tested over 665 samples found that 145 meats were adulterated with other DNA that was not mentioned on the brand's label, with lamb being the worst offender.

So far, the Food Standards Authority has refused to name and shame any of the contaminated brands. But industry leaders are calling for the authority to create more stringent testing guidelines.
