Recent reports regarding food waste have caused a stir online, resulting in supermarkets and brands taking more initiative to eliminate food waste creating wonky vegetable boxes in store. Online retailer, Musclefood has gone one step further to introduce wonky steaks.
In what the company claims is a UK first, the Beautifully Wonky range will include smaller and oddly-shaped cuts of meat that do not fit the necessary thickness measurements required by supermarkets and restaurants.
“It’s a shame that certain steak cuts end up being mincemeat just because they don’t fit the strict weight and size dimensions that restaurants want,” explained Darren Beale, Muscle food founder.
The company hopes that the new range will alter the perception of ‘perfect’ food for consumers and potentially reduce waste in the retail and service sectors.
