WOOLWORTHS OPENS NEXT GENERATION STORE

Woolworths has opened its first next-generation store in Queensland. The store, which is located in Ascot’s Racecourse Village precinct offers customers a fresh new approach to traditional supermarket shopping.

The new store hopes to provide customers with more Australian grown and made produce, a larger variety of seafood from its fish market, and a full production bakery with made-to-order cakes and artisan breads.

Answering consumer demand for more convenient ready meal offerings, the store will also give customers an increased selection of fresh sandwiches, salads and healthy juices. With a new Drive-Thru service area, Ascot residents will also be able to buy online and quickly and easily pick up their order at the side of the building.

“Our team has spent a great deal of time understanding how local customers like to shop and designed this store with their shopping needs in mind to create a next-generation grocery shopping experience.” Said Woolworths Queensland State Manager, Matthew Franich.

Not only does the next generation supermarket aim to provide a better shopping experience for its customers but it also reduces its environmental impact. Fitted with LED lights, carbon-efficient refrigeration and air-conditioning systems, as well as a dedicated plastics area, where residents can bring their soft plastics to be recycled, Woolworths is hoping to reduce its carbon footprint and make the store more environmentally friendly.

The Ascot store employs 127 team members and is open seven days a week.
