M&S Food Brings Back 80s Chocolate Bars

UK | The 80s are back in the confectionery aisle, as M&S Food launches Jet, Sparks, Now! and Coconut Grove.

First launched as part of M&S’ 80s confectionery range, the four bars have returned for customers who loved them the first time around, and for a new generation discovering them today.

The launch was built on the excitement around Take 4, the four-finger wafer bar that returned last winter and quickly got shoppers talking. As one in five Brits admitted chocolate would be the food they would most like to bring back from childhood, M&S Food has brought four more retro classics back to shelves.

Each bar takes inspiration from the flavours and textures that made the originals so memorable. Sparks has paired chewy nougat with soft caramel; Jet has combined nougat, peanut and soft caramel; Now! has a biscuity caramel centre; and Coconut Grove has been filled with smooth coconut, each coated in delicious Fairtrade milk chocolate.

That sense of nostalgia has carried through to the packaging, with each bar back in its original St Michael design from the 80s. From the bold retro colours and playful graphics to the familiar names fans will instantly recognise, the packaging captured the joy of spotting an old favourite on the shelf.

“After the brilliant response to the return of Take 4 last year, we wanted to dig a little deeper into our archives and revisit more of the chocolate bars customers loved the first time around," said M&S Food spokesperson.

"With their original St Michael packaging designs and flavours inspired by the much-loved bars of the 80s, Jet, Sparks, Now! and Coconut Grove are a delicious nod to the past - giving some customers the chance to rediscover an old favourite and others the joy of trying them for the very first time.”

The new retro bars are available in M&S Foodhalls.
