New Flavours To Spice Up A Cheeseboard

Asda launches NEW flavoured cheeses, and expert says one will 'spice up' a summer cheeseboard

UK | When it comes to BBQ additions, charcuterie staples and snacking experiences, Brits are moving beyond traditional cheese, with the desire to explore new flavours and more premium tasting experiences, boosted by social media-driven trends and the rise of #CheeseTok.

Responding to the craze with innovation, Asda has launched new and limited-edition cheeses to its range, great for elevating those final summer night cheeseboards, according to Asda’s Cheese Expert.

As garlic-flavoured cheese continues to rise in popularity, last year, Asda’s Garlic & Herb Cheese Blend saw a search spike of over 2,000 percent after a social media post went viral.

The Boursin Garlic & Herb Cheese, which also featured in the TV Show, ‘The Bear’, has also sparked a surge in garlic cheese popularity, with #Boursin on TikTok now seeing over 438 million views.

Expected to go down stinkingly well amongst customers, and launching as a limited-edition product into Asda’s extensive cheese range, the new British Cheddar With Sweet Roast Garlic Cheese 200g is a smooth and creamy cheese wedge, with a sweet, tangy and unique flavour profile that combines Roast Garlic Jam with subtle spices to compliment the rich Cheddar Cheese.

“We decided to bring this limited-edition product into our cheese range because we know that Asda customers go absolutely wild for garlic, with it being a popular flavour profile across a variety of our categories,” said Matthew Forde, Product Development Manager of Cheese at Asda.

“We see customers using this cheese to spice up their cheeseboards this summer, with its real flavour bomb bringing something different to the usual spread."

With an increase in popularity of sweeter cheeses, which create a ‘swavoury’ (sweet and savoury) fusion, and the rise of mango use across food recipes this summer, the other launch is the new Yorkshire Wensleydale with Mango & Ginger 200g, a classically mild and crumbly cheese with sweet mango and warming ginger hints.

“The sweet mango, which is a trending ingredient this summer, really complements the tangy Wensleydale cheese, and the ginger adds a touch of warmth, which works really well with it. We want to keep bringing our customers trending flavours, even within cheese, so we see this product being a big hit,” added Forde.

“Think a sweet, fruity addition to your cheeseboard, it’s a refreshing spin on the traditional Wensleydale and Cranberry, which can feel a little too festive for this time of year.”

Earlier in the summer, Asda also launched its cheese Burger Melts with trending flavour profiles, including Hot Honey, such as the Asda Summer Chorizo Flavour & Hot Honey Red Leicester Burger Melts 100g.

Asda’s new Garlic and Mango cheese wedges, along with the cheese Burger Melts are available now, in stores and online.
