Tesco Reveals Top Christmas Eve Snacks

UK | New research from Tesco has revealed the top ten snacks the UK thinks a modern Father Christmas would like to enjoy during his Christmas Eve deliveries.

With almost half of the nation following traditions, it has long been customary for children across the UK to leave Santa a mince pie alongside a tipple of port or a glass of milk.

However, 34 percent thought Father Christmas who visited their house might be a little tired of mince pies and would like something different on Christmas Eve.

Tesco’s research revealed that the best modern snack to leave out was doughnuts, followed by a cheeseboard. A supermarket meal deal with a festive sandwich, side, and drink was closely behind in third.

When asked whether they thought Father Christmas would prefer to find a traditional mince pie and a glass of milk, the majority of millennials thought a meal deal was the better option.

With an estimated 14 million millennials across the UK and more than 20 million possible combinations in the Tesco meal deal, Santa won’t get bored of the snacks on offer as he makes his way from house to house.

“Personally, I’ll be leaving out my favourite, the Tesco Turkey and Trimmings Sandwich. It’s the ultimate festive sarnie, packed with tender turkey breast, sausage, sage and onion stuffing, and beechwood smoked bacon, layered with mayo and cranberry sauce. It served on malted bread,” said Sarah Bryer, Product Development Manager for Christmas sandwiches at Tesco.

“Paired with our new Mini Cranberry and Pork Pies, perfect for on-the-go snacking, and a Diet Coke, I think Father Christmas will enjoy the change from a traditional mince pie.”

The top ten modern snacks for Santa on Christmas Eve include doughnuts, cheeseboard, a meal deal complete with a seasonal sandwich, side and drink, cereal bar or protein bar, crisps and dip, croissant, scotch egg, charcuterie platter, yoghurt, and fruit salad.
