ADULTERATED MANUKA HONEY

New Zealand company, Evergreen Life Limited has pleaded guilty to altering its manuka honey products. The company’s manager, Jason Lee pleaded guilty to seven charges of selling adulterated honey. The charges were brought forward under the Animal Products Act by New Zealand’s Ministry of Primary Industries.

Lee is potentially facing a maximum penalty of up to five years imprisonment while the company could be forced to pay more than $1 million. The sentencing is set to take place later this month.
