New Zealand’s most authentic Texas-inspired brand, Texas Foods has finally made its way into supermarkets nationwide. Consumers can now purchase the brand’s authentic smoked beef brisket, pork belly, cheeses and butter.
The meats are packaged in specially designed packs so that they are ready to be consumed hot or cold. The range is hand-seasoned with traditional Texas-Style rubs and then slow-smoked and cooked with mesquite (a wood imported from North America) for 20 plus hours to create a full, genuine flavour.
“I spent a lot of time in Houston in my previous career as an engineer. I started going to the local barbecue joints and couldn’t get enough of the mesquite-smoked, slow-cooked meat,” explained Ash Peters, co-founder of Texas BBQ Foods.
The company was officially launched in 2017 by co-founders Ash and Jerynn Peters and has since racked up an array of different awards. These include winning the chilled food category of the NZ Artisan Awards in 2018 for the Texas BBQ Foods Smoked Pork Belly and Beef Brisket and placing as a finalist for the Smoked Butter.
