New Zealand Natural Ice Cream's Milk Chocolate Ice Cream has won the NZ Ice Cream & Gelato Awards’ Supreme Champion title.
New Zealand Natural Ice Cream's Milk Chocolate Ice Cream has earned the prestigious status of the NZ Ice Cream & Gelato Awards’ Supreme Champion, which has solidified its place as one of the best-frozen desserts in the country in 2024.
In addition to being awarded Supreme Champion, New Zealand Natural Ice Cream received four other trophies, including the DKSH & Belcolade Chocolate Ice Cream Award Champion for its Milk Chocolate Ice Cream, the IFF Premium Vanilla Ice Cream Champion for its Killinchy Gold Pure Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, and the NZ Ice Cream Association Low Fat Ice Cream or Frozen Yoghurt Champion for its Forestberry Frozen Yoghurt.
New Zealand Natural Ice Cream has been well-known for its ice creams since the 1980s, gaining popularity for its delicious taste and commitment to quality.
Over the years, its offerings have expanded to include various flavours and products, including frozen yogurts, sorbets, and dairy-free options. Its products are available in over 30 countries, and it operates a network of franchised stores that bring the taste of New Zealand to customers worldwide.
A panel of 20 esteemed food judges, led by the new Chief Judge, Geoff Scott, evaluated over 230 entries in the NZ Ice Cream & Gelato Awards.
When discussing New Zealand Natural Ice Cream's Milk Chocolate Ice Cream, Scott reminisced about his childhood. He described the ice cream as similar to the flavours of his first milk chocolate bar and praised its rich chocolate taste and irresistible creamy texture.
At the same time, Jason Bough, National Business Foodservice Manager at New Zealand Natural Ice Cream, called it a celebration of simple pleasures executed to perfection, highlighting the excellence of the final product.
“While ice cream makers constantly strive for the darkest, most deep flavours accentuated with ripples and inclusions, NZ Natural Milk Chocolate bucks the trend and is a creamy symphony of Belgian Chocolate and farm-fresh Waikato milk,” said Bough.
“The fact we are a NZ-owned Company and the product is Made in New Zealand is something we are immensely proud of.”
He added that the process significantly influenced the outcome and that the factory had harmoniously combined robotics with human involvement. Technical elements had been tightly controlled, and consistency was key.
“What the judges ate and awarded the Supreme Champion title to is what you will get in any NZ Natural ice cream parlour across NZ and the world. Like wine, the ability to promote awards and other achievements in-store drives positive perception and takes the guesswork out of the consumer’s choice.”
New Zealand Natural Ice Cream have been constantly innovating and observing global trends and local flavours. It has continued to source local ingredients to ensure freshness and relevance and introduce unique New Zealand flavours worldwide.
