BAG OVERLOAD! PHYSIOS WARN SHOPPERS

Following the ban of single-use plastic bags in supermarkets in Australia, shoppers have now been warned by physiotherapists not to overload their reusable bags at the checkout. This comes as an increase of injuries has been reported from shoppers trying to carry heavy reusable bags.

Rotator cuff injuries have been reported by multiple patients which physios are blaming the weight of shopping bags. Although the reusable bags are bigger and stronger, it has prompted shoppers to pack more into it, this could be due to having only a few reusable bags on hand, instead of purchasing additional bags.

Checkout operators and assistants have also been warned not to overfill the bag and to keep the weight down of the bags.
