According to nationwide spending data from Paymark, the seven days leading up to Easter saw an increase of 4.6 percent compared to the same week last year. Gisborne saw the most growth with an increase of 14.6 percent while Marlborough grew by 13.3 percent
As for Auckland and Wellington, both cities reported a decrease with Wellington experiencing a 5.9 percent drop and Auckland reporting a decrease in sales of 6 percent. Auckland made up for a third of the countries spending recording $454.1 million in sales.
