On Saturday, 25th of February, Foodstuffs North Island celebrated their teams' hard work and achievements across all of their 100 percent owned and operated stores.
Held at Cordis Hotel in Auckland, the awards were an effort to uplift spirits and recognise the incredible commitment shown by staff across PAK’nSAVE, New World and Four Square during the devastation caused by Cyclone Gabrielle.
As a longstanding tradition within the enterprise, the Annual Excellence Awards are an opportunity to celebrate their teams' unique talents and dedication with many anticipated awards for internal programme graduates and individual celebrations, including Baker, Butcher, and Checker of the Year.
This year's event boasted 69 finalists competing for the top prize across 21 categories. These many finalists are the most significant number of individuals competing for top prizes that Foodstuffs North Island has ever had.
Wendy Self, PAK’nSAVE Hāwera, celebrated taking home Baker of the Year, Victoria Tupou, PAK’nSAVE Pukekohe, won CHecker of the Year, and Butcher Apprentice of the Year was awarded to Christopher Sridhar from New World Waitara.
Distributed were several awards acknowledging and appreciating the hard work and efforts for teams' excellence across the North Island.
“Our people are our business, and their success is our success. Celebrating the brilliant work they do across all aspects of the business, from our merchandisers to our butchers, is extremely special for everyone involved,” shared CEO Chris Quin.
There were several winners of note, including the prestigious award for Women in Retail, which Nicola Hallett, PAK’nSAVE Whanganui, earned and placed first place for the Store Mastery Programme.
