Foodstuffs South Island has opened a fresh foods training centre in Christchurch, available to PAK’nSAVE, New World and Raeward Fresh staff. Besides serving all food departments, the facility will be used for sampling, demonstrations and conferences.
CEO Foodstuffs Steve Anderson said that the company had increased its investments in fresh food lines, meeting a rising demand driven by TV cooking shows. With fresh food becoming more complex, he also added, counter staff were expected to know more, and thanks to the new training centre they will. Moreover, the facility could lift the overall quality of food.
“If we want to design some pizzas, it’s made here, tested here and rolled out,” said site manager Allan McKenzie.
