New World Cromwell Turns 29

This week, New World Cromwell is celebrating 29 incredible years of serving the community.

In a Facebook post, the store team said that from day one, it has always been about the people and shouted out original team members, Steve and Sandra Shaw, Murray Gould and Natasha Lake, who helped lay the foundations of what New World Cromwell is today.

“To everyone who has walked through our doors over the years, whether as part of the team or as a customer, thank you for being part of our story,” said the team in the post, who proudly looked forward to many more years ahead.

Matthew Dobson, a second-generation grocer and the operator of New World Cromwell, felt lucky to call one of the most picturesque parts of the country his home.  His first foray into supermarkets was as a checkout operator at PAK'nSAVE in Invercargill, and he has been working towards operating his own supermarket ever since.

For Dobson, the best part about the job is the people he works with and his customers.

"I love working with people, getting in and rolling my sleeves up, and looking after our team members and customers."
