The newest Countdown store opened on Greville Road earlier today. The North Shore store is 3,650sqm and is fitted out with an in-store pharmacy, bakery, cellar, extensive fresh foods section and ready to go food area. There is also an undercover pick-up space for online customers to collect their orders.
“We’re really excited about our future in this area of Auckland. Pinehill, Albany and the surrounding suburbs are a rapidly growing part of the region, so when the opportunity came up to deliver a new store here, we jumped at it." Said Countdown’s Director of Property, Matt Grainger.
The store is also home to a range of new sustainability features. Including electronic shelf labels, EV charging stations, bike racks, a transcritical refrigeration system and energy reducing refrigeration doors. It will also be partnering with the food rescue organisation, KiwiHarvest, to ensure food that cannot be sold in store but is still good enough to eat is rescued and redistributed to the most vulnerable people in the community.
Next year, a micro-fulfilment centre will also open at the Greville Road store. State of the art technology will allow Countdown's personal shoppers to easily access items with increased speed and accuracy, resulting in same-day deliveries for customers on the North Shore.
The New store is located at 65 Greville Road, Pinehill, Auckland and is open 7am - 10pm, seven days a week.
