Foodstuffs North Island has crowned its ‘Checker of the Year’, PAK’nSAVE New Plymouth’s checkout operator Kirsten Cooper. Now 28, Cooper has been behind the counter since she was 17. The only finalist to score 100 percent, she edged out 79 other contestants and won a $1,000 gift card, a trophy and a sash.
About 800 checkout operators entered the competition and were judged on different criteria, such as speed, accuracy and personality.
