VINEYARD CONTRACTORS FAILED TO PAY MINIMUM WAGE

Two out of 10 Marlborough vineyard contractors who have been audited by Labour, Immigration and Inland Revenue were found to have breached basic employment standards concerning holiday pay, minimum wage and record-keeping requirements. Seven of the remaining eight were asked to supply additional records. According to Kevin Finnegan, Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, this issue has the potential to put the wine industry’s reputation on the line.
