Fonterra Brands New Zealand will consolidate seven warehouses into a single space, as part of a partnership with Auckland Airport. A new 11,000 sqm distribution is to be built at The Landing, Auckland Airport’s world-class industrial business park. Fonterra will occupy the premises from March 2017, under a long-term lease.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with Fonterra to provide facilities that will directly benefit its customers,” said Mark Thomson, general manager, Auckland Airport.
Leon Clement, managing director, Fonterra Brands New Zealand, explained that having a single dispatch point in Auckland for all dairy products, except ice cream, will improve the efficiency of the supply chain operation in the North Island.
“Our new distribution centre, which will be purpose-built for us, will help us deliver a step change in service to our export and domestic retail and foodservice customers,” said Clement. “We operate in a high demand category and having the latest warehouse technology will also enable us to meet our customers’ expectations around the product mix they want when they want it.”
