The inaugural Packaging & Processing Innovation & Design Awards (PIDA) for Australia and New Zealand will crown their 2017 winners on 8 March in Sydney, at a sold-out gala dinner. The newly-established event marks an Australasian collaboration between the Packaging Council of New Zealand and Australian packaging organisations AIP and APPMA.
“The PIDAs are all about highlighting the role packaging plays in today’s society and celebrating what is good about packaging,” Sharon Humphreys, executive director of the NZ Packaging Council, told us.
“Recognising the Trans-Tasman nature of the packaging industry in Australasia the Packaging Council of New Zealand joined forces with the Australian Institute of Packaging (AIP) and the Australian Packaging & Processing Machinery Association (APPMA) to create a brand-new packaging awards platform – the PIDAs. The awards recognise creative design, innovative processes and the outstanding people who work in our industry.”
Two special company awards will be presented (Sustainable Packaging & Processing, and Save Food Packaging & Processing), as well as three individual awards (Young Packaging & Processing Professional of the Year, Industry Packaging & Processing Professional of the year, and the APPMA Scholarship for a Diploma in Packaging Technology).
“Winners will have the opportunity to take their entries onto the world stage qualifying for entry into the prestigious World Star Packaging Awards. Good luck to all the Australasian entries,” said Humphreys.
