MAJOR REFURB AT ROTORUA STORE

New World Westend, in Rotorua, is undergoing a major $8 million refurbishment—the first in 18 years.

Renovations are expected to be completed by November. Changes include a sit-down café area, new covered walkways for the carpark area, new LED lighting, a new produce department and bakery, and a more eco-friendly refrigeration system.

The refurbishment is financed by the store’s owner-operator Greg Dyson, who started his supermarket career as a 15-year-old trolley boy, then went own to owning and selling Four Square Katikati and New World Kawerau. Dyson bought New World four years ago.
