National intellectual property specialists James & Wells are offering a new service line to help Kiwis make the most of the new standards regulating nutrition and health claims. Since 18 January 2016, in fact, all health claims must be backed by pre-approved nutritional profiles, which companies should see as an opportunity to maximise their competitive edge, and James & Wells’ team are eager to provide strategic advice.
“A health claim allows a premium charge on a product, making it a valuable asset to any food and beverage business. The asset can be built into a business’ brand strategy and leveraged in alternative revenue streams such as licensing agreements and exit strategies,” said Peter Brown, head of Food and Beverage Innovation Team, James & Wells.
