Despite opposition from Victoria University, police and the region’s medical officer of health, Countdown Cable Car has been granted a liquor licence allowing the sale of alcohol between 7am and 8pm. In a statement, Wellington City Council said the committee would have declined the application if the applicant hadn’t offered to reduce its hours to 8pm.
