Fonterra’s farmer shareholders will vote today on a few proposals that include a change to the voting system (candidate will need 50 percent support to get on the board, instead of 25) and a reduction in the number of board members, from 13 to 11. In the intentions of its supporters, the new system would be able to attract the best candidates for the job, taking some of the politics out. To be approved, the package will need at least 75 percent of votes.
