Countdown’s June grocery prices have dropped by 1.2 percent vs. last year, now being 2.5 percent cheaper than two years ago. Meat prices have decreased by 2.9 percent over the past 12 months, including sausages, schnitzels and roast chicken. The company’s Price Lockdown programme might also be another contributing factor. Produce items, on the other hand, have seen a 15.7 percent increase due to higher market prices.
