The 2016 Steak of Origin awards have crowned Countdown’s Angus beef as the Supreme Brand Champion for the second year in a row. The winner was chosen among 20 finalists and evaluated by four judges across different criteria, including taste, aroma, tenderness and juiciness.
“We work hard to offer our customers top notch meat in all our stores,” said John van Boxel, senior category manager meat and livestock, Countdown. “We work closely with our farmers to achieve these high standards and these awards show the benefit of us working together.”
Countdown North Island also took home a first and second place in the ‘Best of Brand: Retail’ category, and a first in the ‘Best of Brand: Wholesale & Foodservice’, while Countdown South Island scored second.
