A 19-year-old girl has been sentenced to 12-month intensive supervision for having lit a fire at a Countdown store in Hawera.
Last February, she held a cigarette lighter against four plastic signs in the produce department, and fled when one of them caught alight. Luckily, quick action by supermarket staff avoided worse consequences; only the floor was damaged.
