Four masked thieves driving a silver station wagon smashed into the main door of Countdown Ponsonby this morning at 3.25 am, battering their way into the Spark store. The offenders fled the scene with several items, although their attempts to further break into the supermarket were unsuccessful due to the locked doors.
Another car, a 1999 Honda Logo, went through the front window of Countdown Waikiwi in Invercargill at 10.25 am. According to witnesses, it was just an accident: the driver may have applied the accelerator rather than the brake.
